Long-Term Customer Relationship
Hi, this is John Dale from GlobileNet again. Just another customer story. I have a client called Fari. Fari has used us for a long time, five years or so.
Trust Versus Quoting
He’s one of those customers where he says, I’ll just come around and do the work. I prefer actually to quote because with all the best intentions and thoughts, when you quote, at least the customer knows what he’s going to get billed, and I know how much time I’ve got to spend to do a job. So we normally do a free consultation to do a quote.
Estimating the Job
In this case, so far, he said “Oh, look, please just come out. I work with you long enough. Just do these things.” I said “Well, how long do you think it will be?” He gave me a list and I said “Well, it looks like it might be a couple of hours from that list.”
Switch Replacements
Now, the list included changing some switches, the special switches with the LED lights in them. I’m familiar enough with those. I took a few spares.
Adding a Double Power Point
There was a double power point he wanted to add in the corridor upstairs. But this was a duplex, by the way. So it on the neighboring side wall and it was gyprock-lined brick. So it wasn’t exactly as straightforward as a normal gyprock cavity wall.
Pantry Switch Work
There were some switches in the pantry.
Security Camera Issue
There was a security camera that they needed to look at. It wasn’t working very well.
Master Bedroom Switch
And there was a master bedroom switch that wasn’t working too well.
Intermittent Tripping
And he had some issues with the occasional tripping.
Discovering a Fire Hazard
I’d arrange just a visit anyway with the parts as requested. Most of it was pretty standard procedure. But then when I went to the switchboard to look When I look at the problem that he was talking about, I could see that there was a hot spot on the circuit breaker that controlled the solar power. It was clear to me that we needed to remove that and change that solar power invertor switch. That sort of problem, you can certainly have a fire hazard there. So he was really happy that I’d noticed and bothered to have a good look at it.
Billing and Understanding
At the end of it, the billing was for five hours, pretty much, not two hours, but he understood why, and he realized that there was more on what he asked me to do than was on the list.
Trust and Review
So he was happy enough to, again, provide us another review. And we successfully completed the job. He paid it immediately on invoice. And those customers are really good to work with because they trust you and we are trustworthy. So if you’d like to give us a call, then please do, and look up GlobileNet. Thank you.
