Pool Light Failure and Water-Damaged Electrical Cable
Hi, this is John Dale from GlobileNet, amongst other things that we do, one of them is pool lights, often after ten-fifteen years, the pool lights get swamped with a bit of water and it’s obviously very corrosive. The lights fail if it’s bad enough and the customer leaves it for long enough, that water will get into the cable and cause a failure of the cable.
Pool Light Cable Fault Diagnosis
It becomes very brittle high resistance and virtually unusable and even if you cut some back, you can’t use it. So in this case, Adam had approached us and I do a normal consultative visit and during that visit, it was pretty obvious to me that there was a cable problem. Many times, it’s very difficult to, pull those cables out because they’ve been there for years .
Assessing Pool Cable Replacement Access
Often there’s landscaping that’s been done around them. But in this case, there was what I thought was a reasonable opportunity to pull the old cable out and pull a new one in and that’s because it was relatively close to the pool pump box and so I’ve given him a quote and told him what to expect just in case we couldn’t do it. Unfortunately, there may not be a remedy for his light situation .
Pulling a New Pool Light Cable Through the Conduit
So we pulled that old cable out on the string, not with ease, by the way. It was very tough, and I was thinking, “Oh, this is not going to work”. But then we got the string out and we tied that to a new line and fortunately the newer lines, the overall diameter for the same size cable is just a little bit smaller and assists when you’re doing something like this. So we fill the pipe up with some flippy slippery gunk and we pull for our lives on this cable, hoping that we’re getting through.
LED Pool Light Installation and Replacement Technique
And indeed we did in this case, so there’s a few tricks deployed in that exercise. Fitting the light was a breeze and just for your information, the lights that we supply are quite universal. They can be a lot cheaper than some of the bigger brands.
Resin-Sealed LED Pool Lights for Cable Protection
And these LED lights that we often deploy will last a very long time, and they’re resin sealed, so there’s no way you can get water into those lights even if it fails. So it virtually protects the cable as well, okay that’s it for me. If you want somebody to do your pool lights, call GlobileNet.
