Electrical Installation Overview – Downlights, Power Points & Exhaust Fan Requirements
This is John Dale from GlobileNet again, just another customer story. I had a guy, Arnold, give me a call. He had multiple needs: downlights, a couple power points, and an exhaust fan. The more complicated of these is, in this case, was the exhaust fan. And he had a laundry, which was getting mould.
Ventilation & Moisture Control – Exhaust Fan to Prevent Mould Growth
So he was pretty keen to get rid of that mould. And the benefit, of course, of that is that, if you don’t know, mould can cause quite some bad conditions in certain people with certain gene structures (that’s nothing to do with this story, I suppose, but anyway).
Remote Electrical Consultation – WhatsApp-Based Assessment & Quoting
As always, we went through a consultative process. This was actually online consulting. I got him to WhatsApp me and we went around his house from that. Most of the time I like to go and visit the home, by the way, but in this case he wanted something done quickly, didn’t have enough time. And I was happy to have a look from a WhatsApp point of view.
Exhaust Fan Ducting & Installation – External Venting Through Brick & Timber
So I went through that process, I got a quote to him, and the ceiling fan, as always, you know, when you have a ceiling fan, he wanted to duct it outside, and that’s not always straightforward. If there’s brick outside, then you have to cut the brick inside where the fan goes. You’ve got to run, you know, 100mm, 150mm, or even a 200mm duct through timber beams in some cases.
Structural Considerations – Safe Timber Drilling for Electrical Ducting
In this case, it was only a 100mm duct, by the way, so it wasn’t so bad, but it can take an exhaustive amount of time, and you don’t want to structurally sacrifice the building drilling holes. So there’s a general rule that as long as you’re drilling in the middle of a wood timber and not taking more than 75% of the gap, then you can retain the strength of the timber.
Electrical Installation Works – Downlights, Ceiling Fan & Exhaust Fan Completed
But anyway, look, We got through it. We installed the downlights that he wanted in his new patio area. We installed a fan as well, and we installed the exhaust fan, as I’ve already said.
Customer Satisfaction & Workmanship Guarantee – Positive Electrical Service Outcome
Arnold was very, very happy, gave us a great review, and as always, that’s the mark of good workmanship, isn’t it? So thank you, Arnold. And if you’d like to give us a call, please do so. Look us up, it’s GlobileNet. Thank you.
