Older Centre Lights Replaced with Modern LED Downlights
Hi, this is John Dale from GlobileNet, another customer story. This one was from Debbie, like a lot of people had a fairly old home, I suppose, and they wanted to get rid of these, centre lights which, in a time past were very good lights, but these days with modern LED they’re ridiculously dim. So the problem for her was that she needed something nice, light and bright to go with the new painting and she didn’t want to spend a fortune and so we visited as we normally do.
Downlight Placement Consultation and Room Layout Planning
We did a consulting sort of arrangement to just see where all the lights how many lights should go into each room and where all the lights should go. Now, it does seem easy, I suppose once these jobs are done. The placement seems to be quite natural, but it takes a little bit of skill to, understand the room layout, understand how the spacing of downlights, so that you get maximum effect, you don’t have downlights too far apart, but also if they’re, there’s a fan or they’re planning to put fans, ceiling fans, in proximity to those downlights, that they’re far enough away not to create a flickering effect when you turn the fan on with the lights on as well.
Ceiling Marking and Customer Approval for Downlight Positions
Can be quite annoying so we put all that into consideration when we actually mark the ceilings for the new lights, we always mark the light with a bit of tape, go to the client and say, look, is that okay? That’s where I’m intending to put them, and that’s my recommended positions and give the customer full option to say, “oh yeah, I’d like them further apart” or something and which is not a problem.
Downlight Spacing, Drilling and Clean Installation
I just explained to them that, typically between two downlights you don’t want really much more than one point five to two metres between lights to get, a really good lighting effect. Anyway, so we were given the authority to proceed, did as I’ve said marked, got agreement and consensus on the positioning, drilled the lights. Nothing too difficult here, it was a single-storey home, so it’s not so hard as a single, double-storey where you’ve got to drill timbers, potentially. So at the end of it, Debbie was extremely pleased and happy with the both the placement of lights and the overall cleanliness of the job. We do use, as much as we can, tools that allow us not to create a lot of dust, although that’s not always too easy.
Great Lighting Result and Downlight Recommendation
So she said, but they did a fantastic job installing downlights. Now have great lighting, even cleaned up afterwards, highly recommend. So if you want somebody that really knows lighting and you want to install downlights where you’ve got an existing older home, then give us a call. Thank you.
