Testimonial

"My home had electric tripping and I had a hard time identifying the cause. John helped me find the cause and tried saving call out fees. There was faulty plug point which needed replacing. He came and replaced it. It's been weeks and I have had no recurring issues."

How We Helped Urmila

Quick Overview

GlobileNet helped Urmila with a small but frustrating electrical fault that was tripping power to the whole house. The job involved circuit isolation, high-voltage testing and tracing the fault to a water-affected power point under the sink. Urmila was happy that the cause was found quickly and the faulty unit was replaced.

Small Electrical Fault Causing Whole-House Tripping

Hi, this is John Dale from GlobileNet we occasionally have big jobs and we occasionally have very small ones and this is a very small one, but one in which the client was struggling with because it was tripping her whole house power and that’s because sometimes electricians combine circuits on a single RCBO, which I’ll never do, well the reason I don’t do it, although it costs a little bit more to for the installation, is such that, if there is a fault on one circuit, it doesn’t affect any other circuit.

Separate RCBO Circuits for Easier Troubleshooting

It’s easier to troubleshoot as well as other things but less inconvenient for the client when you get a fault and often they can tell say, that the power points in the kitchen have gone but the bedroom power points are good, so it makes life easier for them to troubleshoot and I can usually help a lot better that way too, over the phone, without charging clients. Anyway, in this case, there was a hard problem, couldn’t do anything about it over the phone at least.

Hidden Electrical Fault and Circuit Isolation Testing

And that’s always a bit tricky when you have a problem which is hidden, and in this case it was hidden. In order to resolve the problem, sometimes even though you’ve taken all the appliances and unplugged them and it’s still tripping, is to go to somewhere in the centre, what you, you think could be in the centre of the circuit, disconnect it, and then test each end of the circuit to see which end is faulty using a special high voltage test equipment. In this case anyway we did narrow it down to a power point under the sink that had been getting water behind it and subsequently had caused a failure. Maybe only slight failure, by the way, because earth faults you would never know you probably wouldn’t even have feel an electric shock when you’ve got a safety circuit breaker installed .

Faulty Power Point Replacement and Customer Satisfaction

So we were less than an hour, by the way, so the charge wasn’t horrendous and Urmila was really happy, she said they’d had a hard time identifying the cause. We found the faulty unit and replacements and they’ve been very happy since. In fact, Urmila’s recently contacted her for a lot of lights to be replaced in her house. So if you want a great service, large or small jobs, please give GlobileNet a call.
