Switchboard Upgrade & Electrical Safety Compliance
Hi, this is John Dale from GlobileNet with a customer story. In this case, Liz had given us a call in relation to a property that she’d just sort of moved into. It was quite a small place actually, and it was one of those estates where you’ve got adjoining buildings. In this case, the switchboard was really old but really small, you know, 4 or 5-pole switchboard. They had a few other little things, lights and other things to do. Liz was pretty keen to get the switchboard sorted out mostly.
RCBO Protection & Earth Fault Detection
She was a bit worried that it might give her some problems, and actually it was a good idea because this switchboard didn’t have any earth safety circuit breakers, what we call RCBOs (Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent). And these types of the new circuit breakers detect if there’s even a very, very, very slight earth fault. So if you’re touching something metal, you won’t even feel getting an electric shock because that circuit breaker will trip very quickly. Anyway, so obviously the problem and need are pretty obvious there.
Electrical Consultation, Quote & Installation Process
It was mostly emotional in this case, and given that Liz had contracted us, I’d been for a normal consulting visit. Giving them a full quote, and we did quickly change the switchboard.
