Emergency Circuit Breaker Tripping Troubleshooting
He was having emergency tripping issues I can’t remember how late at night it was, but anyway, he called and he was a bit frantic to get the problem resolved. So we helped him over the phone and I went through a process as follows he’d been switching power points off but not disconnecting equipment and you must disconnect the equipment. Everything that you can see in a kitchen and everything you cannot see in the kitchen.
Hidden Kitchen Appliances and Electrical Fault Isolation
For example, that’d be a dishwasher plugs in under the sink, it might be a gas cooktop which has a striker and it needs the electric power point to operate the striker, it might be the range hood over the cooktop. That’s also got the plug-in socket and all of those could potentially be a problem.
Disconnecting Power Bricks and Plug-In Devices
But definitely, if you’re going to try to resolve a problem, you need to make sure everything is disconnected, including power bricks, the ones that you plug into the wall to give you more power points. They can be a problem too sometimes. I’ve had a few cases where those have caused tripping circuit breakers. In fact, on this call, I think it was about twenty minutes, no more than thirty minutes, and we had resolved the problem and I left him to plug devices back in to figure out which one it was that was failing him.
