Customer Callout – Existing Client Electrical Inspection
Hi, I had a call from Fiona, an existing client that was close to me but moved to Carlton, and it’s a bit out of area for me, but in any event, as I knew she was a great customer.
Electrical Safety Concern – Old Wiring & Switchboard Condition
She had the problem that she just bought a new home. It was an old home in that area and they had the problem that they weren’t really sure about the state of the wire. They did know that the switchboard was all faulty. They really needed somebody to inspect the ceiling, and just make some comment. Not just electrical, but a general inspection of the ceiling, to give them some thoughts.
On-Site Assessment – Switchboard Inspection & Appliance Upgrade Planning
And of course, we had a good look at the switchboard. And while I was there, we gave them a quote because they also wanted to add a new oven, one of those integrated oven cooktop units.
Emotional Need – Electrical Fire Risk & Home Safety Assurance
So the benefit here really was more an emotional benefit, I suppose, in that they needed to feel safe in the home; it did look like it might fall into flames at times when you look at some of the wiring there.
Electrical Quote & Scope – Switchboard Upgrade & Compliance Recommendations
So we gave them a quote, we inspected the building thoroughly, recommended some changes and we knew the switchboard was already one of those, so we did that switchboard change.
Earthing System Compliance – Earth Stake Installation
In doing so, we checked and verified where the earthing stake was located. In this case, you couldn’t find it, so we had to add one.
Ceiling Inspection – Insulation Impact on Cable Current Rating
We also, when we went through the ceiling, we found that there wasn’t really any insulation in the ceiling. So we suggested it was a good idea to put insulation in, but at the same time, that did mean some of the wiring had to be rated differently — in particular for the integrated range cooktop — because when you put insulation into a roof, then the conductors are called partially surrounded by insulation, and it creates a derating factor. So instead of 32 amps, for example, you may have to run to 25 amps for that circuit.
Project Outcome – Safe Electrical System & Customer Satisfaction
Anyway, look, Fiona was extremely happy that we had completed the mission. They expressed great relief that they didn’t feel like they were going to be in jeopardy any longer. And so another happy customer. And if you want to be a happy customer with us, then please give GlobileNet a call. Thank you.
