Ali’s Call for Downlight Pricing
Hi, this is John Dale from GlobileNet. This story is about Ali Kaabi. Ali had given us a call and wanted to get some idea of pricing for a lot of downlights and things. So we made our normal visit to have a look at the need and the problem. And we do that always.
Why We Don’t Quote Over the Phone
We generally don’t quote over the phone. I mean, I do find that if somebody calls and they’re not really willing to engage with us, I don’t charge for going to their place for quotes, then we’re probably not going to win the business, to be honest. And I like to know who I’m dealing with as well.
Offering Our Professional Opinion
So we’d like to identify the problem, identify what the potential solutions are, why they should do things in the way that we describe sometimes, Even though they have a particularly fixed views about how they want it done, we always offer an opinion. They may not take it, but we always offer an opinion because we do have a lot of experience in this field.
Downlight and Lighting Upgrades
Ali wanted to have 18 or 17 downlights installed in various places so that we could remove the the centre lights and put new LED lights in. We removed and replaced garden spike lights. We removed the garden drivers, which were gone. We removed a front entry light and replaced that one new as well. So most of it to do with lighting, as you can hear.
The Benefits of Low Voltage Garden Lighting
So garden lights are an interesting thing. I won’t go into too much detail here, but a lot of people think they want lighting at the back of the house, and they don’t think they have low voltage garden lighting. And the cost, of course, is much less with 12 volt cabling than it is for two 40 volt cables because we don’t have to dig trenches.
Balancing Budget with Quality Products
Anyway, in this case, Ali wanted to lower the budget, so we came to terms with a different product. It’s still a very good quality product, but a product which is more trade-known only, not one of those, like Philips or something like that, which are good products. And these ones are equally good from Voltex, one of our suppliers. And those downlights are equal in every way to the Philips ones, and we’ve had great success with them.
Installation Day and Client Satisfaction
So we’ve done the quote to him. He accepted the quote after the modifications that we suggested. And then we went into install mode. We took pretty much a day to do most of the work with a couple of us. And Ali was very happy and his review expresses that. He said “great service from John and the team. Informative, price was right, highly recommend.”
Value Beyond the Price Tag
So that’s all we can ask for after doing our service to a client and then being happy, even though it may not be the cheapest quote necessarily, but they’re getting value for money and they know it because we’ve gone through the process of explaining to them.
